Roman born folks are inevitably permeated with the spirit of their city.

A spirit that during the ages expressed itself in thousand of different ways and scenographies: from the porterhouses' (“osterie”) painted walls to the city prisons' cells, from such benighted touristic places to suburb's buildings, from restructured theatres to the petty bourgeois salons.

Different ages, different situations and contents, a people in continuous on-going transformation, capable of encompassing the foreign still remaining itself: this is the magma from which BandaJorona outdraws songs, melodies, bad misdeeds (“fattacci”) narrated as epic gest, jeerings of authority and power elite, romantic ballads, full of nostalgia for something that irreparably is ceasing. A journey into music and love, prison and knife tales, depicted with the bloody and romantic vein of Rome, as well as recalling to memory, for Latium music, the extraordinary attestation of Graziella Di Prospero.

After having experienced participations to town festival of Piadena Culture League and to the initiative of “Ernesto De Martino” Institute in Sesto Fiorentino, to the concerts with the great members of “Dischi del Sole” (among which Ivan Della Mea and Giovanna Marini), to the shows that the ensemble has performed in Torino, at Castello Square and at Carignano Theater in the occasion of april 25th, on behalf of Torino Municipality and of Stabile Theater, to the White Night, on september 2006; after having experienced the coordination and production of the annual happening “A certain way to be Rome. Tribute to Gabriella Ferri” (“Un certo modo di essere Roma. Omaggio a Gabriella Ferri”); after having experienced also the participation to many festivals and musical happenings; BandaJorona keeps the desire and the diffusion activity of a repertoire brought onto the streets and squares , as well as festivals, where music is not just a memory but a renewed act of political and social expression.

romanaThus, BandaJorona is also entartainment: funny, amusing and extravagant rocambolesque due to the songs and sonnets sung and performed by Bianca and played by the group; an accurate musicologic research , a choice of elegant arrangements and at the same time of great emotional outburst. The heterogeneous musical baggage of BandaJorona members, makes this group an almost unique entity throughout the italian popular music scenario, due to elegant arrangements as well as particular reviews of most famous pieces.

The group realized a Cd entitled “Romana”, produced by minor independent label Godagoda Records; the second Cd is actually in process, with traditional songs and BandaJorona originals. Neodialectical poet Piermattia Tommasino and musician Giulio Carcani, among the others, collaborate to this CD .
